To solve this, master Suzuki pioneered a switch from raised ribs to “grooves”. This design brings several key advantages. First, better venting: the grooves form stable air channels between the filter paper and the dripper wall, so gases released by the grounds during extraction escape freely, preventing pressure-induced stalling. Second, a steadier, more controllable flow rate: smooth venting keeps the flow consistent, so whatever pouring technique you use, you get highly even extraction that lifts the cup's clarity and flavour complexity.
