C60 Colombia Antioquia Finca La Luisa Melon Party Caturra Fruit Honey
C60 · COLOMBIA ANTIOQUIA FINCA LA LUISA · CATURRA FRUIT HONEY
Colombia Finca La Luisa Melon Party
Juicy cantaloupe and honeydew sweetness throughout the cup.
Cantaloupe and honeydew melon lead, with a sweetness like melon milk candy and a soft, yogurt-like tang in the middle. The finish brings roasted nuts and fruit candy sweetness. A great pick if you love sweet melon flavours with a nutty finish.
Caturra × Fruit Honey
Fruit Honey is Finca La Luisa's own fermentation method. The cherries first ferment without oxygen for about 5 days in a CO2-flushed stainless steel tank. They are then depulped and fermented for about 3 more days with the coffee juice collected earlier and selected fruit juice, before drying. This concentrates the fruity aromas and sweetness. Please note that the melon character comes mainly from the fruit juice fermentation, rather than being a typical natural flavour of coffee.
Finca La Luisa is in Ciudad Bolívar, Antioquia, Colombia. It is run by the Vélez family and mainly grows Red Caturra. Owner Juan Pablo Vélez first used CO2-injected stainless steel tanks for carbonic maceration, then developed the fruit-juice fermentation called Fruit Honey, which gives each lot a clearer and more consistent flavour profile.
